Cities: Tribute to Fes

Fes is perhaps the most Moroccan of Moroccan cities in the country. Founded around the 8^th century BC, it was – and still is – a vibrant place where old meets new, where some of the best craftsmen, artist and intellectuals of the country are trained and educated.

Fes – that was the country’s capital on several occasions – consists in a large modern city surrounding a thousand-year-old Medina (old city) that is protected by high walls.

Fes is listed as a World Heritage Site, has the oldest Urban Pefestrian Zone and is home to the world’s oldest continuously functioning university, The Al Qarawiyyin – which was founded by a Fatima Al Fihri, a woman – in 859 BC

This limited edition timepiece and its packaging draw inspiration from this historically rich city and pay tribute through the unique shade of blue, found in the potteries and other artisanal goods made in Fes, as well as the very unique texture of the Medina’s walls, that we are reproducing in the center of the Dial.
