Istanbul a été fondée par des colons grecs de Mégare au VIIe siècle av. J.-C. et était à l'origine appelée Byzantion. Neuf siècles plus tard, la ville a été conquise par l'empereur romain Constantin, qui l'a d'abord nommée la Nouvelle Rome avant de lui donner le nom de Constantinople, un nom qui est resté jusqu'à l'époque moderne avant d’etre remplace par le nom d’Istanbul en 1930.

La ville a servi de capitale impériale pendant près de 1600 ans : pendant les périodes romaines/byzantines (330-1204), latines (1204-1261), fin byzantines (1261-1453) et ottomanes (1453-1922). La ville a grandi en taille et en influence, devenant finalement un phare de la Route de la Soie et l'une des villes les plus importantes de l'histoire. La ville a joué un rôle clé dans l'avancement du christianisme à l'époque romaine/byzantine, accueillant quatre des sept premiers conciles œcuméniques, avant de se transformer en bastion islamique à la suite de la chute de Constantinople en 1453, en particulier après être devenue le siège du califat ottoman en 1517. En 1923, après la guerre d'indépendance turque, Ankara a remplacé la ville en tant que capitale de la nouvelle République de Turquie.

I’ve been lucky enough to get my hands on one of the first Magana pieces — the Istanbul tribute — and it honestly means more than just a watch to me. It marked the start of a real connection with Omar, which later turned into a collaboration, so there’s a story behind it that I carry every time I wear it.

Beyond that, the piece stands on its own. Clean, versatile, and with just the right amount of character — it moves easily from day to night without trying too hard. It’s one of those watches that people notice, but more importantly, one you feel.

Magana is just getting started, but if this is the direction, it’s going to be something special.

I’m genuinely impressed by the MAGANA Istanbul. The design is clean, elegant, and very well balanced—it has a refined presence without trying too hard. The strap feels premium and comfortable, and the overall finishing is clearly done with great attention to detail.

The packaging is also beautifully executed, adding to the full experience of the watch.

I didn’t hesitate to go for the upcoming Meteorite model as well. Looking forward to it!

I was skeptical about ordering from a brand I didn't know, but the Tribute to Istanbul completely won me over. Feels solid and expensive without the ridiculous price tag. The blue dial with its warm accents is really something special.

Istanbul captured perfectly on a dial

I've been to Istanbul three times and when I saw this watch I knew I had to have it. The blue-turquoise tones of the dial are reminiscent of the iconic tilework and the Bosphorus. Quality is excellent case is hefty and finishing is clean. Very proud to wear this.

Gorgeous and well-made

Scrolled past this on Instagram and had to investigate. Ordered the Istanbul tribute and I'm very happy I did. The watch is heavier than I expected in a great way. The dial color is stunning and unique. Very pleased with my first MAGANA.
