A name that means “watch”

In Darija, the Arabic spoken in Morocco, MAGANA simply means watch. With this name, our founder Omar Chaoui pays tribute to the country and culture he comes from.

I fell in love with watchmaking in 2003, in my first job in the industry. I still feel the same wonder at what the early watchmakers achieved with mathematics, astronomy and patience.

Over twenty years, as an insider and a collector, two questions stayed with me. Why should a beautifully made watch be out of reach for most people? And why do so few brands talk about what a watch really measures: our time, the one thing we all share and none of us can get back?

MAGANA is my answer. Each piece is made to remind you, every time you look at it, to call your mother, sit with an old friend, play with your children, or simply step outside and breathe.

Today, MAGANA is growing beyond watches, with one hope: to bring a little more kindness, connection and meaning into everyday life. The idea remains the same.

Dubai was built in a few decades by people from all over the world who chose to make it their home. Living here for more than twenty-five years, Omar has seen what becomes possible when people from different places decide to build something together. We are grateful to the UAE for that daily lesson in openness and generosity. Three values grew from it, and they guide everything we do.

Culture

Every culture deserves to be discovered and celebrated. Our first collection, TRIBUTE, honours thousand-year-old cities: Fes, Istanbul and Kyoto.

Community

Nothing worthwhile is built alone. Our TANJA collection looks back to Tangier in the days of the International Zone, when writers, artists and dreamers from everywhere shared one city.

Mindfulness

Pause. Choose with intention. Act with care, in what we make and in how we treat people. Our SANDS OF TIME timepieces, dedicated to the deserts of Liwa, Sonora and Tundra, celebrate the silence and stillness that teach us to slow down.
