"I fell in love with mechanical watchmaking in 2003 when I landed my first job working in the industry. I was – and still am – in awe when I discovered the ingenuity developed by the
earliest watchmakers from the 16th century onwards who have combined knowledge of mathematics, astronomy, physics and chemistry to invent these mechanical devices that are able
to measure time continuously and consistently.

As an industry insider and a watch collector, I have often wondered why it was that a useful mechanical complication of great quality, in a beautifully finished timepiece needed to be so
expensive, limiting the accessibility to such wonderful devices to a small portion of people around the world. This ever-present question led me to the dream of creating Magana
someday.

As I started working on making this vision a reality, I also asked myself “Why” would I go through the trouble of creating yet another brand, let alone one that is the field of watchmaking.
Indeed, starting a brand from scratch is not an easy challenge, nor is success guaranteed, but having a purpose can certainly make the difference. And so, in the summer of 2021, I
have started working on developing not just a watch, but a brand. The ambition I have for Magana is to spread universal values that are dear to me and that I believe – naively perhaps
– can help make the world a better place. These are values of Culture, Togetherness and Mindfulness.

I am hopeful that what we try to achieve through Magana will resonate with people around the world.
